Connection Tab

The Connection tab contains all the necessary settings for logging into the ecobee system.

Enter App Key/Change App Key

This button will allow the user to enter or change the application API key for the Events2HVAC app in ecobee.  This key will be unique to your site and will be given to you when you receive your license.

Warning:  Changing your app key will cause Events2HVAC to stop working until the authorization process is completed.

Account Types

Select the type of ecobee account(s) that your thermostats use.  Only one type can be used.

Smart: These are typically your home thermostats and are registered under a single user account.  (ecobee3,4,Si,Smart)

EMS: These are commercial thermostats (EMS si) registered under a management company.  Users are given privileges to specific thermostat groups.

This selection will affect the OAUTH2 scopes applied during the authentication process and changes the way thermostats are discovered and controlled.

Note: if you switch the account type after you have authorized the application, you will need to re-authorize again with the new account type.

Log API Responses

Check this option to generate DEBUG log entries for each response from the ecobee system.  This is primarily used temporarily for troubleshooting.  The logger must be logging DEBUG events for this data to show up in the log files.

Note:  Make sure you turn this feature off after troubleshooting so that the response files don’t fill up your hard drive.
