The Avigilon Alta interface gives you the option to send unlock and lock commands individually to an entry, or to push an event schedule to the entry’s schedules. There are some pros and cons to each method.
Using Temporary Unlock Commands
**This command should not be used because of limitations on the maximum time allowed for delays in the api **
This option will send each unlock and lock command at the time it needs to be sent according to the schedules. The unlock command will use a temporary override feature that allows the entry to remain unlocked for a specific time period. This time will match the duration of the event. When the event is over, a revert command will be sent to release the override (if it is still overridden).
This method relies on the Events2HVAC software to send commands for each event state. If there is a disruption in the network, internet or server, a command could be missed or delayed. Although the timed override will prevent the entry from staying unlocked for an extended period, if the unlock command is missed you might have people locked out of an event.
Using Schedule Entry Commands
This option will overwrite the schedule assigned to the entry with one-time events based on Events2HVAC schedules. The schedule will contain the next 24 hrs. of events each time it is sent to the entry.
The user can view the current schedule in the Avigilon Alta control center, and once the schedule is sent, any disruption to the Events2HVAC system or network won’t prevent the doors from following the schedule for the next 24 hrs.
Since existing schedules are overwritten each time, you can’t create any custom or weekly schedules for the entry.
